Between two natural parks, live in Porretta Terme well-being of nature

Porretta Terme is located in the upper valley of the Reno River, at an altitude of 349 metres above sea level, surrounded by green hills with lush vegetation that allows you to enjoy the benefits of the waters internationally renowned for their effectiveness and purity.

Nestled between 2 natural parks, that of Corno alle Scale and that of the lakes of Brasimone and Suviana, Porretta Terme and its territory offer 300 km of trails that will lead you to small stone villages, churches and shrines.

Sport, nature and culture

With trails for trekking and mountain biking, you will discover the beauty of our Apennines, ski slopes, water mills, ancient ironworks, local museums and the many gastronomic traditions based on chestnuts, mushrooms and local truffles. In addition, Porretta Terme is located 1 hour by train or car between 2 beautiful cities of culture and art such as Bologna and Florence.

So many things to do and see in and around Porretta

It is said that Porretta Terme is The Heart of “High Reno Valley”.Guests will find all they need to relax and have a great time, breathing pure air, wandering the around the shops, perhaps drinking a glass of wine in a bar or restaurant, watching a movie at the local cinema or heading for the Olympic swimming pool and sports centre to keep in shape. Take a photograph of our new town square and explore the old narrow streets of via Falcone, via Ranuzzi and via Borgolungo heading for the beautiful Santa Maddalena Church.

Moving on to Capugnano, very interesting are the parish church of San Michele, with its famous crooked walls, and the house where Guglielmo Marconi was born.

Museum of Cultura Montanara

Further on the village of Castelluccio, with the LabORantes museum and the suggestive sanctuary of the Madonna del Faggio. Going uphill, you enter the Corno alle Scale Park, with marvellous routes amidst surprising nature, such as the Dardagna Waterfalls and Lake Scaffaiolo. Then the sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Acero, the stone village of Monteacuto and in Poggiolforato the Ethnographic Museum of the Mountain Culture.

History and devotion

The Regional Parks of “Due laghi Brasimone” and in particular “Suviana” are a great place to rest after a long trek around the area. For a cultural experience, visit Riola to see the modern church of famous architect Alvar Aalto, or visit the castle “Rocchetta Mattei” and medieval village La Scola. Explore the natural park of Montovolo you can visit the Oratorio di S.Caterina and Santuario di Montovolo.
