Path Avatiano and Marconiano 107 CAI
Starting on foot directly from the Santoli Hotel following the Cai path 107, you will encounter unexpected views, surrounded by the splendid unspoiled nature of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. You will thus reach Le Croci, an ancient village with stone towers and the birthplace of Giuseppe, father of Guglielmo Marconi.
The path continues in the woods and, as in the famous film by Pupi Avati “Una gita Scolastica”, you will arrive at Castelluccio and its magnificent Neo-Gothic-inspired Manservisi Castle; at 810 mt. at a height you will dominate the whole valley and be inspired by the splendid view of the highest mountains of the Bolognese Apennines from Monte Grande to the Nuda, up to the unmistakable east face of Corno alle Scale.
Madonna del Faggio and the magical village of Tresana
Once you arrive in Castelluccio, you can continue towards Pennola along the driveway that leads to the splendid Sanctuary of Madonna del Faggio. A place of peace and mystery surrounded by centuries-old beech trees that will make you feel all the energy of nature, along the way it is worth a visit to the pretty Tresana, a magical village surrounded by chestnut trees and lush hydrangea bushes.
From Castelluccio to Madonna del Faggio it is about 5 km, and the route is very easy. Arriving at the sanctuary you can continue, following the CAI path 109, towards the Mulino della Squaglia, located on the Baricello stream, and then arrive at Monteacuto delle Alpi, one of the most beautiful villages in the Bolognese mountains, perched in a splendid panoramic position.
Journey time from the sanctuary to Monteacuto just over 1 hour; trail for hikers.
Park of the Lakes
A few minutes drive from the Hotel Santoli is the Regional Park of the Suviana and Brasimone lakes, inserted in the Alta Via dei Parchi which contains an itinerary through the Apennines between Emilia Romagna and Tuscany.

Less than 30 minutes from the hotel, Corno alle Scale with its maximum height of 1945 meters holds the highest peak in the Bolognese Apennines, and is located between Pistoia and Modena. At its foot there is the homonymous park.
